About the Automotive Information ASVAB Test

The ASVAB Auto Information Test is a part of both the CAT, computerized version of the ASVAB test as well as the manual pencil and paper version of the test. The computerized version of the auto and shop test has eleven questions which must be answered within seven minutes. It should be noted that like several other subtests, the computerized version of the AI test is adaptive, meaning it becomes more or less challenging depending on how well you perform.The pencil and paper version of the test is not adaptive (obviously) and has 25 questions to be answered within eleven minutes.

Each question in the test will be multiple choice with one correct choice among the four possible answers.

The ASVAB Auto Information test is designed to gauge the test taker’s overall knowledge of automobiles including the transmission, electrical systems and mechanics. To perform well on this test the applicant should have a solid understanding of several automotive systems, and different types of automobiles. This includes a knowledge of the transmission (conversion of power within the engine), automotive electrical systems and general automotive mechanics.
